Unsaturated Iron

Test Information

Iron blood test is important for checking the body’s blood levels of iron. Iron is necessary for the synthesis of red blood cells. The oxygen in our lungs is transported to the rest of your body by red blood cells. Having healthy muscles, bone marrow, and organs depends on iron. Serious health issues can result from iron levels that are either too low or too high.

There are various iron tests, including:

a) Serum iron testing, which gauges blood's iron content

b) Transferrin, a protein that transports iron throughout the body, is measured by the transferrin test.

c) Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), which assesses the efficiency with which iron binds to transferrin and other blood proteins

d) Blood test for ferritin, which gauges how much iron is stored

Clinical Indications

Iron blood test can identify if a person has low blood iron levels (symptoms include, fatigue, pale skin, weakness, rapid heartbeat and shortness of breath.
