Test Information
Most patients with advanced pancreatic cancer have elevated CA 19-9 levels, but it can also occur in other cancers and illnesses, including bowel, lung, and gall bladder malignancies, as well as benign ailments such pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, gallstones, and liver disease.
Clinical Indications
CA-199 has limited diagnostic value because to its lack of specificity. It can be used as a prognostic indication in cases of gastro-intestinal cancer that has already spread and for monitoring therapy effectiveness and relapse.
