An IL-6-mediated acute phase reactant, CRP blood tests are proportionally correlated with inflammatory responses. Increases in circulating CRP have been shown to be associated with the emergence of Type 1 DM and ischemic heart disease as well as the deterioration of pre-existing systemic diseases.
